Hydrating your skin is so important! If our skin is dehydrated, we can look years older. No thank you!!! When skin is hydrated it looks youthful and radiant, but if skin is dehydrated it’s left looking dull and flaky. This time of year is an especially great time to think about hydration for your skin since the winter months can be extra drying and leave you with skin that makes you want to hibernate.
So, with the weather and aging working against us, what can we do to pamper and hydrate our skin? We’re going to share some of our favorite expert tips for maximum skin hydration!
Say no to smoking which ages the skin prematurely. It causes your skin to lose its elasticity earlier which makes it more difficult for it to hold onto moisture;
Start from the inside out. Drink plenty of water and eat healthy foods rich in antioxidants. The first step to hydrate your skin is to give your body the things it needs to repair itself;
Use a humidifier. You can use a humidifier while you sleep which can aid in giving dry skin a boost during the day, which will prevent your skin from drying out throughout the day;
Protect your skin. Wear sunscreen every day. Sun damage does a great deal of damage to our skin, and even more so as we age. Exposure to the harmful effects of the sun can create more wrinkles, as well as discoloration and age spots, so if you are in the process of trying to hydrate your skin so you have a more youthful glow, don't set yourself back by forgetting to wear sunscreen every day;
Find an excellent moisturizer and other skin care products that help to hydrate your skin. Using thicker creams and those with B vitamins will help maintain elasticity, promote cell turnover, and create a moisture barrier between your face and the environment.
And finally …
Warm Showers and Baths Only ! Long, hot showers may feel divine, but they can be super drying for skin. Learn to warm up to short, lukewarm baths and showers, which help your body retain its natural, skin-protecting oils. If you can’t resist and still want to indulge in a hot bath or shower, just try and do it less often.
We hope this segment will help you achieve beautiful healthy skin. We want everyone to feel – not just comfortable, but AMAZING in their skin.
