PCA Facial pHaze2 Skin Toner Ingredients:
Water/Aqua/Eau, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice and Alpha Hydroxy Acids
Alpha Hydroxy Acids are an important discovery in skin care, leading to a slew of products that soften and refine the skin more easily than ever thought possible. Many alpha hydroxy acids are found in nature and as a result are sometime referred to as fruit acids. When applied to the skin as part of a skin care regimen, alpha hydroxy acids loosen the outer layer of dead skin cells (called the horny layer of the epidermis). They accomplish this process by hydrolyzing or softening the muco-polysaccharide glue that holds these cells together. After this outer layer is loosened, the dead skin cells can be washed away, leaving a fresh layer of more flexible and resilient skin. The result is a softening of the lines in the skin and a softer feel to the skin. This initial action of alpha-hydroxy acids can happen in as little as two to six weeks.
It is also believed that the effect of alpha hydroxy acids on the outer layer of dead skin cells actually helps to stimulate the formation of new skin cells and underlying collagen. There is some scientific evidence to support this collagen rejuvenation process which is believed to occur over time with continued product use. Sunscreen use is essential for those seeking to benefit from the rejuvenating properties of alpha hydroxy acids.
